India currently faces an unusual situation as opposed to the world where there is plenitude of vaccine shots available but very few from the frontline health care workers had shown interest, while many others skipped the immunisation drive citing safety concerns. As of Monday, only approximately 56% of eligible individuals to get the jabs have come forward in the nation.
On the twelfth day of the vaccine drive, a count of 23,28,779 beneficiaries have been vaccinated for COVID-19 through 41,599 sessions tracked as per the data released in the evening of January 27, according to a provisional report of the Union Health Ministry.
As on January 27, a total of 2,99,299 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7.00 pm in about 5,308 vaccination sessions, the ministry notified The ministry reported 79 percent of beneficiaries vaccinated on Wednesday are from five states — Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
As per the latest update, there have been a total of 16 hospitalizations, which is 0.0007 percent of the total people vaccinated till date, additional secretary in the Union Health Ministry Dr Manohar Agnani stated.
