Movie promotion is very important these days but too much of promotions may work against the movie. People may wonder how advertising a movie will work against it. While it is true that movie promotions takes the content towards the public but the strategies used for certain films these days are affecting the film in a bad way.
The makers are overhyping the film so much and singing laurels about it prior to the release itself. Every technician and actor claim that their film is nothing short of a masterpiece since it has a big star, crores of budget and extraordinary visuals. Looking at the trailer and speeches of the hero and director, the audience raise their hopes and walk into the theatres. But the movie ends up being a disappointment. Huge fight sequences and heavy budget does not make a film success, it needs a strong story and a gripping narration. Without these two, no matter how big the star is, the film falters at the box office.
Due to the heavy promotions, the audience keep their expectations high and failure to reach those will leave them disappointed. They are expressing their opinions freely on social media while is making the negative feedback spread more. This kind of backlash is mainly due to the over promotions done by the makers. No matter how hard you work, the result of the film cannot be known till the first show comes to an end. But the actors, directors and producers are claiming that their movie would be a definite hit even before the release. Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Liger’ is a huge example of that. The expectations were high due to Puri-Vijay combo and the promotions were done in a huge manner across the country. At the end, the result was disastrous. The same happened with Akhil now.
His recent outing ‘Agent’ was promoted in such a grand way that everyone pinned a lot of hopes but the movie turned out to be pretty shocking. It turned out to be torture in theatres and people are suggesting that the promotions should be adequate but not over-the-top.
