Last week, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan sought to put to rest rumours doing rounds in the media and political circles that his party might join hands with the Telugu Desam Party in the coming elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Pawan declared that his party would go it alone in the elections and contest all the 175 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh.
If at all he wants to have any alliance, it would be with the Left parties. He asked his party workers and people not to believe any such rumours.
However, notwithstanding his clarification and rejoinders to the media, people have still been expressing doubts over his sincerity.
According to some sections of media, there are good number of evidences to indicate that Jana Sena might forge an alliance with the TDP in the coming elections.
First, the television channel “99TV” owned by Jana Sena Party leader Thota Chandrasekhar has been giving big coverage to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and his party activities much more than pro-TDP channels like ABN Andhra Jyothy and Maha TV.
Secondly, Pawan Kalyan, who made a big announcement that his party has plunged into electioneering on January 1 and that he would begin extensive touring of all the districts has suddenly cancelled his programmes. He is confined to his residence-cum-office in the plot bought from Lingamaneni Estates in Vijayawada.
Thirdly, there is a conspicuous change in his attitude after his return from the US. He has not been attacking Chandrababu Naidu so strongly as he had done in a month ago. It is learnt one Ashok is steering the party from behind Pawan Kalyan.
Fourthly, the TDP chief also announced that he would declare the first list of candidates before Sankranti. But now, there is no such effort in that direction. May be, he is looking for an alliance with the Jana Sena first before taking any such decision.
