Amaravati lands issue has hit political parties hard. Opposition parties are raising their serious concerns over state government’s proposed plan to distribute lands to poor under housing-for-poor scheme. Pawan Kalyan, who is politically active, has made some serious comments on the burning issue. Janasena chief has made an appeal to CM Jagan to offer non-contentious lands to economically weaker sections instead of the lands that may arise legal issues in future.
Pawan Kalyan stated that the land allotted for capital by CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) – which was dissolved by a resolution passed by Legislative Assembly and yet to get Legislative Council’s nod – may arise legal repercussions. He advised CM Jagan to offer issue-less lands to poor if the latter is “sincere” and “honest” in serving poor. Even principal Opposition party TDP is raising its strong voice against AP state government’s fresh move as the purpose of land pooled was for capital needs. With Jagan’s government decided to move executive capital to Visakhapatnam and limit Amaravati as the state’s legislative capital,
It can be noted that AP state government led by CM Jagan has already taken its decision to offer 1251.51 acres of pooled land to poor. It issued GO No. 107 to distribute house site pattas to 54,307 poor and eligible families. State government would be constituting a committee of three officers comprising of APCRDA Commissioner and the district collectors of Krishna and Guntur. The Commissioner cited that as per Sec. 53(d) of APCRDA Act, 2014 at least 5 percent of total area pooled under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) could be allotted for providing affordable housing for the poor.
Lands are identified in the villages of Nowluru, Krishnayapalem, Nidamarru, Inavolu, Kuragallu and Mandadam for allotment of house sites to poor under the programme.
Amidst this, the concerns of Janasena and TDP is expected to create tremors in political circles. Having said this, Pawan’s valid suggestion should be considered for the smooth transition of lands from government to economically weaker sections.
