The other day, power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday announced the appointment of one “Dev” as his chief political strategist, on the lines of popular strategist Prashant Kishor, who has been working for YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh for over a year.Pawan introduced Dev to the party functionaries at a meeting held at the party office.
He said Dev had been working with the party for the last 10 months and would be on election plans and the institutional policy designing.Dev also claimed that he had the experience of working with various national and international political parties and that he had been in this field for over a decade.Nobody knew who this “Dev” was as media persons, too, have never heard of him. Even a google search about popular political strategists in India showed Prashant Kishor and others, but not Dev.
It sounded like a Bengali name and everybody thought Pawan might have hired this “intellectual strategist” from West Bengal.But enquiries for a couple of days revealed a surprising news about this Dev. He turned out be a pucca Hyderabadi Telugu and his actual name is Vasudev.He claimed himself to be a “renowned industrialist and educationist” while joining the Bharatiya Janata Party a few years ago.
Said to be from Chintal Basthi area of Khairatabad, he joined the BJP in the presence of then state BJP president G Kishan Reddy at Bagh Amberpet.Dev was frequently visible along with Kishan Reddy in public appearances and even participated in a few TV debates on behalf of the BJP.A video of his speech eulogising Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also doing rounds in social media.
There are no records of this “Dev” or Vasudev working as a political strategist even for the BJP, forget about other political parties at national and international level, as claimed by him.Now, the question is why Pawan Kalyan, who always talks about Leftist ideology and Che Guevera and moves along with the Left party leaders, appointed a BJP man and a hard core fan of Narendra Modi as his political strategist?
And more so, a person who has no credentials of working as a strategist at all? Any guess?
