The first name that comes to mind to any political party or person, the moment a Political Strategist is needed, is Prashant Kishor. This is the man that was instrumental in YSRCP‘s win in Andhra Pradesh, in the 2019 general elections.
Way before the elections took place in April, in December 2020, PK predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party would struggle to even cross double digits in West Bengal, and said that he would be quitting his career as a Political Strategist, in case he’s proved wrong in the elections.
The BJP and Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) have had a bitter face off for a few months now, in West Bengal, and have been vigorously campaigning against each other, despite the Coronavirus pandemic. BJP leaders like Amit Shah have also been to West Bengal to campaign for their party, and a lot of leaders belonging to the WB BJP even expressed high confidence in winning in the elections.
However, the real picture has turned out to be exactly what PK had predicted in December, with the BJP highly unlikely to break the 100 mark. Speaking to the media, PK announced that he would be quitting the Political Strategist space for some time, and take a break, try to do something else, and try to spend more time with his family. At a time when his prediction ahs turned out to be right on spot, it came as a shock for everyone that PK decided to quit the space, and be quiet for some time.
