If everything went as planned, fans of Prabhas would have made a huge Hungama in front of the theatres. This was supposed to be the release date of pan-Indian hero Prabhas’ ‘Adipurush’. The team proudly announced 3-4 back that it will be releasing on 12th January 2023. Everyone were very excited to hear this and fans were happy to see their hero on the big screen as lord Ram.
But everything went downhill once the teaser came out in October. The poor visual effects made everyone speechless and people who expected a visual feast were met with something which resembled animation movies. Starting from the look of Saif Ali Khan as Ravanasura to the appearance of Prabhas, everything was scrutinized. It got a lot of negativity and some politicians even warned the makers about distorting the history.
The team decided to showcase the teaser in 3D to fans in theatres to change their perception but it served no purpose. With the team deciding to spend more time on the visuals, they postponed the film. Directed Om Raut took to social media and announced, “‘Adipurush’ is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram and commitment towards our Sanskriti and history. In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film. Adipurush will now release on June 16th, 2023. We are committed to make a film that India will be proud of. Your support, love and blessings is what keeps us going.”
