President Pranab Mukherjee presents Padma Awards

President Pranab Mukherjee has presented the Padma awards at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with other dignitaries have attended the ceremony. The country’s second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan has been awarded to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Among the Padma Shri awards, the people who were honoured are Wrestler Sakshi Malik, Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, Paralympian Mariyappan Thangavelu, Discus Thrower Vikas Gowda, Sanjeev Kapoor, Dr Subroto Das, Jitendra Nath Goswami. The President also presented the third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan, to Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.

Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Olympiads Sakshi Mallik and Dipa Karmakar receive Padma awards

Olympiads Sakshi Mallik and Deepa Karmakar were among the Padma award winners, who received the prestigious honours at the hands of President Pranab Mukherjee, here today. Both the sportspersons were honoured with the Padma Shri awards.

President also gave away Padma Bhushan to Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt from Rajasthan for Arts and Music. Among others, who received the awards at a glittering function at Rashtrapati Bhawan, include journalist and columnist Cho Ramaswamy and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Sunder Lal Patwa (both posthumous).
