Following a brief hiatus after the underwhelming performance of “Liger,” director Puri Jagannadh is set for a powerful return with the action-packed film “Double Ismart.” Scheduled for release on August 15th, the movie promises to be a quintessential commercial entertainer.
Jagannadh joins forces with the energetic actor Ram Pothineni for “Double Ismart,” a sequel to the well-received “Ismart Shankar.” Filming for the project has already concluded, and the team is currently engrossed in post-production activities.
Promotions for “Double Ismart” are in full swing, with the teaser and the first song, “Steppa Maar,” generating a positive response from audiences. The second song is slated for release on June 16th, further amplifying the pre-release buzz surrounding the film.
Reports suggest that the makers of “Double Ismart” have secured a highly lucrative deal for the film’s theatrical rights. PrimeShow Entertainment, the banner behind “Hanu-Man,” has reportedly acquired the rights (excluding the Hindi version) for a staggering ₹60 crores. This figure includes a refundable advance of ₹6 crores, with the remaining ₹54 crores being a non-refundable advance. The success of the Hindi version of “Ismart Shankar” paves the way for the sequel’s Hindi rights to be acquired at a premium as well. These developments indicate that director Puri Jagannadh and co-producer Charmme Kaur are likely to see significant profits even before the film’s release.
Kavya Thapar takes on the lead female role in “Double Ismart,” while the formidable Sanjay Dutt portrays the main antagonist. The soundtrack is composed by the experienced Mani Sharma. The film promises to be a full-fledged commercial entertainer, targeting not only the youth but also the crucial B and C center audience segments.
Produced by Charmme Kaur and Puri Jagannadh themselves, “Double Ismart” boasts a crew with pan-Indian expertise. Hollywood cinematographer Gianni Giannelli lends his talents to capture the high-octane action sequences, choreographed by Kecha. The film is slated for a pan-Indian release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.
