Rapaka Varaprasad, the lone Jana Sena MLA, who hobnobbed with the YSRCP all these days, is finding himself in a piquant spot. He is now finding that he is neither here nor there. He had deserted Jana Sena and the party no longer is interested him. The YSRCP, which used him to demoralise Jana Sena, has no use for him.
Rapaka was the only Jana Sena MLA to win the elections in 2019. In fact, his victory was significant as even party founder-chief Pawan Kalyan lost from both the seats he had contested from. In the later developments, he moved closer to the YSRCP and began behaving like an unofficial MLA of the YSRCP. He was praising Jagan to the skies and was very active in YSRCP programmes.
But, at the same time, he began driving wedges between the YSRCP leaders from Razole. He sowed seeds of differences between senior YSRCP leaders Ammaji and Bonthu Rajeshwara Rao. Rapaka also made his son join the YSRCP. But, things began taking a different turn soon. During the panchayat elections, Jana Sena performed better in many places in the constituency. Also, the Dalits began getting distanced from him as he was increasingly being seen as a camp follower of the Raju politicians. Though he campaigned for the YSRCP, it did not do all that well. The YSRCP cadre has not been supporting him.
At the same time, Bonthu Rajeshwara Rao and Gollapalli Surya Rao have become active in the party and are now trying to isolate Rapaka. As a result, Rapaka is neither here nor there.
