Despite the faulty EVMs and violence that erupted during voting, the election commission has called for re-polling only two places and that too in Guntur district. The 244th polling booth of Guntur West constituency and 94th polling booth of Narsaraopet will go for voting once again. It was Guntur district collector who has suggested for re-polling as he found out irregularities.
The 244th polling booth of Guntur West is Nalla Cheruvu and on the polling day, the records showed that 300 people who were standing in queue were given slips while there were 30 additional votes that got polled. In the 94th polling booth, the voting could not take place because of clashes between TDP and YSR Congress party. But the date of re-polling are not announced yet. The AP election commission might finalise the date on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the EVMs are moved to strong rooms and the police have arranged three layered tight security for them. The central forces and the state police are assigned for the security. Now the AP election commission is doing arrangements for counting process. In 34 places, 55 counting centres, they would be done.
AP chief election commissioner has reveals the details of voting percentage. The total stood at 76.69 percentage while Prakasham and Vizianagaram districts recorded the highest voting percentage with 85. Vizag, West Godavari and Kadapa got the lowest polling percentage with 70.
