Remembering our beloved Rallapalli

One of the finest actors of Tollywood, Rallapalli, has breathed his last, yesterday at 6 PM. The loss has definitely left a void in the Telugu cinemas and it cannot be put in words what a profound contribution he had lent to the Tollywood. He acted in more than 850 films and most of them had him in memorable roles.

This angelic human being is also eminently known for helping people who are in need. He, in fact, starved himself to give food to others. He was born in Anantapur district in 1945 and yesterday, at the age of 73, he lost the battle to a chronic lung ailment.

He started his career at 1960 as a stage artist, performing more than 8000 stage shows, and made his film debut with movie Stree in the year 1974. To mention, Mani Ratnam’s Bombay had Rallapalli in a stellar performance as a transgender. He also won many awards and laurels as a theatre artist, film actor, and Television artist. Apart from his acting skills, he also impressed people with his unique writing and directorial skills.

Actor Nani, director Harish Shankar, YSRCP Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and many others have conveyed their deepest condolences through social media. Rallapalli worked as a staff artist in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Not only do we miss his presence on screen but also his extreme generosity and kindness towards people. He was a father-figure to many budding artists and we will miss him, dearly. His last rites will be held tomorrow at Mahaprasthanam.
