Firebrand Telangana leader and Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy, who gained the heroic image by quitting the Telugu Desam Party and joined the Congress on October 31, is now fast losing his stature because of his resignation drama.
Revanth claimed to have submitted his resignation letter from the assembly seat to TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, instead of to Telangana assembly speaker S Madhusudhana Chary.
He thought it is a strategic move that would put Naidu as well as Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in an embarrassing situation as they had admitted defectors from other parties without seeking their resignations.
But, the TDP leadership has turned tables on him.
“Revanth has not submitted his resignation to Naidu at all. He just met Naidu and said good bye. We do not know to whom he gave the resignation letter. If he is sincere, he should have given the letter to the Speaker,” Telangana TDP president L Ramana said.
Another TDP leader wondered what Revanth wanted to achieve by submitting the resignation to the chief minister of the neighbouring state.
“It is as good as giving the resignation letter to Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik. It doesn’t make sense,” he observed.
Though Revanth tried to put up a brave face by surrendering his gunmen to the assembly and stopped attending the House, he still continues to be an MLA. Till Friday, his resignation letter has not reached the Speaker’s office.
“This has brought down his image completely. He was a tiger in the TDP and now, he is not even a cat in the Congress,” the TDP leader observed.
