At a time when the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh is completely down with absolutely no chance of winning even a single assembly seat, let alone MP seat, former Union minister K Sai Pratap returned to the Congress, after trying his luck in the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress party.
Once a close associate of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, the six-time MP from Rajampet in Kadapa district re-joined the Congress party in the presence of PCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy, AICC leader Meyyappan and Kadapa DCC president N Tulasi Reddy.
An emotional Sai Pratap said the aim of the Congress party was to strengthen the weaker sections of the state.
The party needed serious activists who had the intention to serve the people, he said adding he would work for the development of the party in Rajampet.
Ironically, it was only in March that Sai Pratap joined the YSR Congress party in the presence of party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, ending his three-year stint in the TDP.
The former Union minister of state for steel felt totally neglected in the party and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had not even considered Sai Pratap’s name in the Lok Sabha elections.
Sai Pratap was not given any position or post in the party and Naidu ddid not bother to respect his seniority. Having no other way, Sai Pratap announced his resignation from the TDP and joined the YSRC.
It is not known what made him uncomfortable in the YSRC as well. It is not even clear whether he took any formal membership in YSRC. But he thought he would get some respect at least in the Congress, though it has no chances of recovery in AP.
