Finally, the Congress high command has opted for youth and dynamism and appointed Revanth Reddy as the Telangana PCC chief. The party clearly sidelined old guard, who have strongly opposed Revanth Reddy and threatened to leave the party if he was appointed as the PCC chief.
At the same time, the Congress leadership ensured that all the important contenders were accommodated in key posts. Five vice-presidents, one each from Reddy, SC, Minorities, OBCs and others – were appointed. Similarly, key contenders like MLA Jagga Reddy, former MP Madhu Yashki, former deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha have also been given key posts.
The party, however, has ensured that seniors like VH, key contender Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Jana Reddy and others were not included in the team. But, sources said that Komatireddy Venkat Reddy would be accommodated in the AICC team. Significantly, leaders like Jagga Reddy, who have opposed Revanth Reddy tooth and nail, have fallen in line. Another key leader Mallu Ravi too has whole-heartedly hailed Revanth Reddy’s appointment.
Soon after the news of the appointment of Revanth Reddy became public, celebrations broke out at Revanth Reddy’s residence. A large number of party workers gathered at his residence and began dancing and celebrating.
