The Kerala Story is going strong at the box office and the positive word of mouth is its strength. Despite allegations of the wrong depiction of society, there is no stopping the film. The film was banned in West Bengal and none other than Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced this.
Giving a reason to do this, the Chief Minister said that to maintain peace the film was banned. Though there is no ban on the film in Tamil Nadu, the screenings were stopped due to protests. It is said that the film was pulled out of the multiplexes in Tamil Nadu.
All these reasons say the film is the much-talk-about one in the country. Now none other than maverick director Ram Gopal Varma showered praises on the film and called the film a true Pan-Indian film. He has a few reasons to back his arguments.
He said that a Tamil/Malayali girl played the lead role in the film and a Gujarati producer bankrolled it. A Bengali director helmed the Hindi film and this makes it a true Pan-India film. “A Tamil/Malyali girl playing the lead , a Gujrati producer, a bengali director, a Hindi film now a BLOCKBUSTER in all languages ..A TRUE PAN INDIAN FILM #TheKeralaStory,” RGV said on Twitter.
The lead actor in the film is Adah Sharma, who was born to a Tamil father and a Malayali mother. Vipul Amrutlal Shah is from Gujarat and director Sudipto Sen is a famous Bengali director. The Kerala Story was made in Hindi and dubbed in other languages as a Pan-India film.
The Kerala Story tells us the story of a bunch of girls who were converted to Islam and joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The upcoming film is based on the alleged Love Jihad issue.
