Rajamouli’s magnum opus featuring NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles is one of the most awaited films of Tollywood. It is a period action film which has historic elements laced with fantasy. This mammoth budget movie is scheduled for Jan 8, 2021 release on Sankranthi eve.
However, the Corona virus outbreak in India and the cases being increased with each passing day is giving sleepless nights to Rajamouli. Due to Corona pandemic, film industry has shut down its operations completely. Theatres to film shoots have come to a standstill. Buzz is that the delay in the film’s shoot is now worried to have impact on the release date of RRR.
It was also rumoured that Rajamouli was against the idea of halting the film shoots since RRR shoot would get delayed and in turn would increase the cost of production of the film. However, as there was no option left, Rajamouli had to stop the shoot of RRR given the extraordinary conditions and the unanimous decision of Producers Council and Movie Artistes Association.
Meanwhile, several Telugu films who had initially no hopes of coming for Sankranthi are also prepping themselves for Pongal release in case if Rajamouli’s RRR misses its date by any chance. Pawan Kalyan-Krish movie, Allu Arjun 20 directed by Sukumar, Mahesh Babu-Parasuram’s untitled film, Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju are aiming for Sankranthi in the absence of RRR. Of course, it depends on the completion of these films on time before gearing up for Sankranthi release.
At the moment, rumours are rife in industry that if Corona pandemic persists, this may result in the delay of RRR. Let’s hope that RRR would arrive on Jan 8, 2021 as per the schedule completing all the pending works, post-production works on time by December 2020.
