Saaho Plagiarism: Largo Winch Director Throws A Satire

Taking out the story framework from French film ‘Largo Winch’, though Agnyaathavasi failed to make any impact, it is surprising that even ‘Saaho’ has the same content. With few changes to the hero’s profession and all, this Sujeeth directorial has hit cinemas other day, leading to the trending of the hashtag #LargoWinch in Hyderabad.

When someone pointed the same to director Jerome Salle of Largo Winch, he quips, “I think I have a promising career in India”. That’s a satire on Indian filmmakers because they are continuously copying his film’s story, which is actually adapted from a Belgian novel of the same name. The director also shared the link of Gulte article where we spoke about #LargoWinch trending.

One must say that our filmmakers need to be more liberal when it comes to crediting their sources, in the name of inspiration or at least buying the rights officially. If they keep on lifting story ideas and scenes from foreign films, one day there will be more lawsuits than the number of Telugu films released in theatres.
