YS Sharmila created quite the storm when she announced her new party. Although the party is to be established in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh political circles were most affected by it, with several rumours spreading, about the reasons behind Sharmila choosing to start a new party, leaving her brother’s YSRCP.
In Telangana, it has become interesting for political analysts to see what Sharmila will be able to accomplish with her party, as the TRS is the people’s favourite party, and the BJP ha recently established itself as a formidable opposition in the state. The BJP is also very much not backing down and is trying to win the people. On the other hand, the Congress party too is trying its very best once again gain support in Telangana. With so many parties already fighting for power, it will be interesting to see if Sharmila’s party will be able to stand long, or if it will turn out to be short-lived.
Several people have questioned Sharmila’s capability to establish and run a party, and the comments that Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy made in AP have definitely raised eyebrows. Sharmila is said to have reacted to this quite strongly, reminding everyone that it was she who gave her moral support to the YSRCP when Jagan had been to jail. She is said to have reminded everyone that she is very much capable of running a party, as she has been very instrumental in the strengthening of the YSRCP in AP.
A few senior leaders of Telangana, belonging to various parties, including the TRS, are said to have recently contacted Sharmila, and these members are said to be interested in being a part of her party. The names of these leaders have not come out, but some key leaders and potential members of Sharmila’s party are reportedly going to be seen walking along Sharmila’s side during her Khammam padayatra.
