Director Shekar Kammula had been venturing up since the announcement of the lockdown to help whoever he can by donating staple goods and essential items.
In the wake of assisting the jobless hijra and transgender community of Hyderabad with staple goods in April, the director has chosen to give essential goods to those working diligently during lockdown in Hyderabad and Kurnool.
Besides doctors and police men, the GHMC sanitation laborers had been risking their lives, and he came forward in salvaging this critical situation as a saviour by giving some refreshments.
Watching sanitation laborers work in the scorching heat during this lockdown is truly tragic. Regions in and around Gandhi medical clinic, where the patients are isolated, look like battle grounds and sanitation workers appear as though our infantry,” says Sekhar Kammula.
Many of them are constantly slogging out in red-zone regions, hotspots and emergency clinics, taking a chance with their lives. Thanking them is jut not enough for their contribution, he added.
Sekhar Kammula organized butter milk and badam milk donation for 1000 sanitation laborers with the assistance of a dairy organization for one month duration.
“The organization gave the refreshments at an economical cost and the GHMC North Zone bosses responded to the call of disseminating beverages to these laborers consistently. It’s been seven days since we began this campaign,”
