News of a sequel for Chandramukhi starring Raghava Lawrence and helmed by P Vasu who directed the first film in 2005 keeps making rounds ever since the director reportedly confirmed that Chandramukhi 2 is in the works.
In the 2005 Chandramukhi, Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Jyothika and Prabhu starred in the lead roles and there was news of Jyothika reprising her role. However, during the promotions of her OTT film, the courtroom drama Ponmagal Vandhal, the actress made it clear that she has not been approached for the film at all. She shot down rumours and when asked who she personally thinks would fit the role; she had volunteered Simran’s name, state reports.
Simran was the first choice for Jyothika’s role in 2005 too and excited fans began circulating that the actress will star in Chandramukhi 2. Raghava Lawrence will reportedly play the role of the evil king from the film.
After a few days of speculation, Simran however shot down these reports and wrote, “It is a fake news I am sorry to disappoint my fans wanted to clarify I have not been approached for any such role for a movie. I kindly request you all to plz get it right before publishing it on any platform. Thank you.” (sic)
Fans left comments under her post that they were disappointed that she was not part of the sequel either. They left comments like, “Oh.. I wish it should be true… I missed you in Chandramukhi mam… Again missed..” (sic) and “Simran mam very upset i was happy seing dis news. chandramukhi 2 which u missed u grabed it. Bt feeling sad.” (sic) Reports state that P Vasu had revealed in the interview that the second part will see a new family enter the mansion and suffer due to the ongoing saga between Chandramukhi and the evil king.
