The Hindi film industry is in slump right now. None of their movies are succeeding at the box office. Even a huge star hero like Akshay Kumar is bagging disasters and the same goes for Ranbir Kapoor’s recent outing ‘Shamshera’ too. At the same time, South Indian films are ruling the roost with back-to-back blockbusters like ‘KGF’ franchise, ‘RRR’, ‘Pushpa’ and others shaking the entire nation. People are willing to watch South Indian movies in theatres compared to Bollywood flicks. Also, the audience are no longer relating themselves to ubran plotlines Bollywood is picking up and shifted towards action entertainers and commercial films which the South Indian film industry has in abundance.
Realising this, Bollywood producers and heroes are going after South directors. Big banners like Sajid Nadiadwala Entertainment, Rajkumar Hirani Films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Films, Pooja Entertainment and SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment are reportedly searching for scripts and directors from South cinema. As we know, Shahid Kapoor had already worked with Sandeep Reddy Vanga on ‘Kabir Singh’. The passionate filmmaker is making ‘Animal’ at the moment with Ranbir Kapoor. Shahid remade ‘Jersey’ with Gautham Thinnanuri and Sailesh Kolanu worked with Rajkumar Rao on ‘HIT’. Top Tamil director Atlee is working with Shah Rukh Khan on a film that will be releasing next year. Many heroes in Bollywood have said that they wanted to work with a top director like Rajamouli. Even Prasanth Neel gained a huge craze among Bollywood heroes and producers after ‘KGF’. With our directors too aiming at the pan-Indian market through their films, it is no wonder we are seeing a lot of North actors willing to work with the Southern makers.
