It has been a very long time since Bollywood has heard about a movie getting profits. After Karthik Aryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, none of movies from star heroes managed to register good numbers at the box office. While ‘Brahmastra’ earned around 300 crores, the movie’s budget and the business it did before the release turned it into a cost failure.
But senior action hero Ajay Devgn impressed the audience big time with ‘Drishyam 2’. This suspense drama was released in Hindi recently. It had Ajay Devgn, Shriya and Tabu playing the lead roles. As we are aware, Mohanlal’s original version and Venkatesh’s Telugu version of the same film were released directly on Amazon Prime Video long back and they are available to everyone. But none of it were dubbed in Hindi which helped the Hindi makers a lot. As the first part of Hindi ‘Drishyam’ was highly successful on the small screen, people wanted to see what happened to Ajay Devgn and his family in the movie which made them walk into the theatres for ‘Drishyam 2’. This resulted in the collections being extraordinary in recent times.
Within a week, the movie minted 97 crores already and it will be hitting the 100 crore mark by the end of Thursday as per trade reports. A lot of screens are being added for this film across the country and it looks like the movie struck the right chord with the audience. With Varun Dhawan’s ‘Bhediya’ releasing this Friday, it is to be seen how ‘Drishyam 2’ performs in its second week.
Abhishek Pathak handled the megaphone for the Hindi version of ‘Drishyam 2’. The original score and music are given by Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad while Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak produced it. Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary is the director of photography while the original story belongs to Jeethu Joseph.
