Inspired by the success of Baahubai, several filmmakers form Bollywood as well as South are now daring to make high budget action, fantasy and historic projects. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has also undertaken one such massive project.

SRK will produce a film on India’s most successful rescue operation overseas, ‘Operation Khukri’. It is said to be the actor’s most ambitious project and that it will be among the most expensive films ever made in India. SRK’s team has spent a lot of time researching extensively to develop the script.

The story focuses on a rescue operation carried out by the Indian military to rescue 223 soldiers held captive by the African rebels in Sierra Leone, West Africa. While serving on a United Nations peacekeeping mission, the Indian soldiers were abducted and held captive for 75 days. When all the efforts made by the United Nations (UN) failed, India took matters into her own hands and launched ‘Operation Khukri’ in the intricate tropical forest in West Africa to rescue the soldiers.

The project will be a true depiction of the daring, successful and massive military operation run by our Indian soldiers. The movie will be shot on real locations in West Africa and it will feature some real life armed combat sequences. The film will go on floors by this year end.
