The Tamil Nadu wing of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) moved the Coimbatore district election officer seeking directives to file a criminal case against Shruti Haasan, daughter of MNM founder Kamal Haasan.
The saffron party accused Shruti Haasan of trespassing into a polling booth in Coimbatore South constituency. She accompanied Kamal Haasan during the poll booth visit, the BJP party said.
On the behalf of the party’s national women’s wing leader Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP Coimbatore chief Nandakumar wrote to the district election officer seeking action against the actress.
When Kamal Haasan went for a poll booth visit in Coimbatore South, Shruti Haasan and Akshara accompanied him. The BJP said this is a violation of the election code and said except for booth agents., others are not allowed to visit the polling booth.
Tamil Nadu went for the general elections on Tuesday for all the 234 Assembly constituencies in a single phase and reported 71.79 percent of voting percentage in the general elections.
