A Dalit youth names Om Pratap, belonging to Chittoor District, Somal Mandal Bandakada, recently committed suicide. Before that, the youth had criticised the alcohol policies introduced by the YSRCP government, and also heavily criticised the way Jagan was dealing with the state.
With the youth committing suicide just days after his above mentioned posts on Facebook, opposition parties have started to say that the government is responsible for the death of Pratap.
TDP members Pulivartha Nani and Amarnath Reddy had gone to Pratap’s house to convey their condolences to his family, and later on planned on taking part in the protests going on in the area.
However, just as they started to take part in the protests, the Police had intervened and did not let them do so, house-arresting them in the area.
It is interesting to imagine the reasons behind the Police intervention when the TDP members had done nothing to disrupt the peace in the area. It makes one question if the government was really behind the death of Pratap.
