The ruling YSRCP is showing its complete dominance in the Municipal Corporation elections. After winning the lion share of the Local Body Polls earlier, the YSRCP is continuing its winning spree in civic body polls too.
YSRCP registered a resounding victory in Hindupur Municipality, where the opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) holds a stronghold. The voters favored YSRCP which resulted in the party winning 27 out of the 38 wards.
The opposition TDP barely managed to wing six wards, while the BJP, AIMIM, and others have won one ward each. The election result came as a rude shock to the TDP leaders and sympathizers.
Actor-turned-politician, Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna campaigned for the party vigorously. Balakrishna held roadshows and participated in the door-to-door campaign. But his efforts went in vain with the TDP losing the Corporation.
TDP is so strong in Hindupur that the media dubb the constituency as TDP Kanchu Kota. Before Balakrishna, his father, founder of TDP, Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao represented the constituency.
It has to be noted that the Local Body Polls came as an embarrassment to TDP Chief, former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the party lots the Kuppam elections to TDP, which is Chandrababu’s Assembly constituency. Now its Balakrishna’s turn to face the embarrassment
