Money plays a key role in elections and candidates who can spend big amounts in elections are given a party ticket usually. Irrespective of the parties, rich candidates are preferred. The irony is that there is a limit to the candidates who are running the elections on the money they spend. But most of the candidates won’t follow the limit sadly.
The grand old Telugu Desam Party, which is trying hard to make a comeback in the next general elections is believed to be in plans to follow the same. Reports say that a former Union Minister’s son might get a ticket for the elections.
Media reports say that former Union Cabinet Minister Daggubati Purandeswari’s son Hitesh Chenchuram might get a ticket to contest the polls from the Chirala constituency. His mother is with the Andhra Pradesh wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Daggubati Hitesh Chenchuram hails from one of the biggest political families Daggubati. His mother is with the BJP, while his father is with the ruling YSRCP. It is said that Daggubati Venkateswara Rao is being sidelined in the YSRCP and the Telugu Desam Party wants to bank on this.
Daggubati Hitesh Chenchuram lives in the United States and he holds a green card. It is said that he is rich and runs a few businesses there. This might have made the grand old party prefer him for the key seat.
Moreover, the Daggubati family holds a good hold in the Prakasham district, and Venkateswara Rao won the elections there a few times. But the transition in power in TDP from NTR to Nara Chandrababu Naidu made the Daggubati family distance itself from the party and take the other camp.
It’s been a few decades since the Daggubati family and the Nara family stopped seeing each other. At family events, they meet and greet others. If the Daggubati scion can be roped in as the party ticket from the region where the family is very strong, there are good chances of him winning the elections, and the gap between the two families can also be filled. Looks like Chandrababu wants to hit two birds with one shot.
