Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesperson K Pattabhi Ram has been granted bail by the High Court. The TDP leader is currently lodged in Rajahmundry Jail.
It is known Andhra Pradesh police on Wednesday night arrested Pattabhi for allegedly using abusive words against Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The judge remanded him in Vijayawada court for 14 days on Thursday evening. He was shifted to Machilipatnam Jail the same night and shifted to Rajahmundry Jail the next day after undergoing Covid-19 tests.
Pattabhi’s arrest came a day after his remarks triggered a huge backlash from supporters of YSRCP, who attacked TDP’s central office at Mangalagiri and other party offices in the state. The spokesperson’s house was also attacked by a mob on Tuesday.
According to police, he has been booked under Sections 153A, 505 (2), 353, 504 read with 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
