TDP Weighing On Avinash or Anuradha?

With Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan firm on leaving the TDP, the leadership is desperately looking for a replacement in Gannavaram Assembly constituency.

The party had initially decided to send Gadde Anurandha to Gannavaram. Anuradha, wife of Gadde Ramamohan, was the former chairperson of the Krishna ZP and is an active leader with greater following for the family in Gannavaram.

Her husband, Ramamohan was elected to the Assembly once in 1994 as Independent and had subsequently joined the TDP.

Later he was elected to the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency in 1999 and then moved to Vijayawada East Assembly constituency and the lost the 2009 elections to the Praja Rajyam Party. Since then, he is staying there and had won the 2014 and 2019 elections.

The family has strong support base in the Gannavaram Assembly constituency, and the TDP is actively considering his wife’s candidature for a replacement to Vamsi Mohan.

Meanwhile, there are also suggestions to the party leadership to send Telugu Yuvatha State president Devineni Avinash to Gannavaram.

Avinash, the son of former minister Devineni Nehru, lost the 2019 general elections at Gudivada and is now in the air after the defeat.

Avinash is asking the leadership to make him Vijayawada East Assembly segment and send Gadde family to Gannavaram.

However, as Ramamohan is the sitting MLA from Vijayawada East, the party wants to send Avinash to Gannavaram rather than shifting the sitting MLA.

But, Avinash is not in favour of moving to Gannavaram, making the leadership to have second thoughts on sending the Gadde family.
