Telangana state Legislative Assembly has passed a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019. Telangana Assembly which has majority of TRS, Congress and MIM has opposed the CAA, 2019 proposed by the Union Government. While BJP’s only MLA in the house Raja Singh has supported the CAA, the ruling and opposition parties in unison opposed the CAA and passed the resolution against the CAA.
Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh had barged into the well of Speaker and raised slogans in favour of the CAA. He had teared down the resolution papers in front of Speaker to show his protest against state government’s decision. While Prime Minister and Centre had already stated that it is unconstitutional to reject a bill passed by the Parliament, yet Telanagana state went ahead and passed the resolution against Parliament’s decision. CM KCR reiterated that the Centre should review its decision on CAA.
While Rajasthan was the first state to pass resolution against the CAA, Punjab was the second state, Kerala was the third state, West Bengal was the fourth state, Chattisgarh was the fifth state and Madhya Pradesh was the sixth state and Delhi was the seventh state. Thus, Telangana becomes 8th state to pass resolution against the CAA.
