Telangana Polling: 73.2 Percent Recorded

A good 73.2 percent polling is said to have recorded in Telangana. Although the Election Commission had initially estimated that it was 69.1 percent polling in Telangana on 7th December, it has corrected its figure on the following day after it got actual reports from the ground.

Due to EVM and VVPAT snags in several polling booths in various constituencies, the voting was delayed and it was even continued after 10.30 PM in those polling booths. From the ground, these reports haven’t reached the Chief Electoral Officer’s office yesterday. After getting these reports and considering the overall voting, the CEC Rajat Kumar confirmed that the polling has increased to 73.2 percent in the state. This is contrary to yesterday’s polling percent of 69.1.

It is observed that huge polling percentage was recorded in the rural parts of Telangana. Madhira in Khammam district recorded a highest 91.65 voting percentage, followed by Munugodu, Paleru which saw over 90.99 percent voting. However, Hyderabad is a big disappointment. It registered only 48.49 percent. Malakpet constituency stood least with meager 42.74 percent.

2014 Assembly elections registered 69.5 percent voting in Telangana.
