The new angle in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s dual politics over Amaravathi farmers!

The ongoing row between Amaravati farmers and AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy took a whole new turn. On June 22, the government announced the release of leases to Amravati farmers. It was also said that the amount for leases will be credited to the farmers’ account. Officials also informed the media that they would credit the amount into the account of farmers.

It is the end of the August month and not a single rupee is credited in farmers’ amount so far. This agitated the already frustrated farmers even more. They are in fury over the AP government about their dual standards towards the farmers. They are questioning the courtesy of Jagan’s government as they have failed to keep their word.

Hence, all farmers decided to besiege the CRDA office. Knowing about this step from the farmers, the police arrested all of them on the spot. Police blocked the roads leading to the CRDA office from several routes. However, those who crossed over were arrested as they arrived.

Of the farmers who gave land to Amravati, 29,000 were small and marginal farmers. Agriculture was the livelihood until most of them were given land. Therefore, the lease for Jaribu and other farms was decided separately. Under the previous government, the lease was given in June.

On the other side, the government has also made plans to sell the capital land for distribution as housing plots but is not fulfilling its promises to the farmers in a fair manner. The decision to move the capital is already upsetting them and now, they are not even giving the lease. “Is this fair Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy?” – asking a fellow farmer from the other region of the state.
