The tentpole movie Saaho is just two days away from hitting the marquees across the globe. The Rs. 350 Crore worth action spectacle is not only giving sleepless nights to its buyers but also to its makers and the leading man Prabhas.
With every buyer from each distribution territory investing a fortune in the film, even a slight difference in the expected response is raising the blood pressure levels.
Like always, premiere numbers of this biggie in the US market are grabbing eyeballs and are becoming a talking point on the social media. Trade analysts are already cooking up stories about Saaho not living up to the expectations going by the early trends.
Apparently, Saaho is not garnering the attention of Non-Telugu audience in USA. It is pretty clear that the craze around Saaho is at an all time high across languages, but what is the reason for the below par response for Saaho’s Hindi and Tamil premieres in the US?
It is learnt that the exorbitant ticket pricing is the reason for lukewarm response from Non-Telugu audience. Hindi and Tamil audience are shocked to see $30 and $25 price for premiere shows. Even the star studded Tamil and Hindi film premieres are priced much lesser than this.
Therefore, it is no surprise that Saaho isn’t making much impact with its Non-Telugu versions. The high ticket price for premieres also would limit the footfalls for its Telugu version. This would play a major role in restricting Saaho’s premiere count to shockingly low numbers, say trade analysts.
However, good reviews and positive word of mouth will help the film to post good numbers from Friday as the 2D version’s ticket price will come down to $15 and $10 for all languages. According to the latest estimates, Saaho could collect $1.2 to $1.3 Million from its Thursday premieres and its further run will largely depend upon the word of mouth and reviews.
Distributors are hoping that the film will collect Rs. 18 Crore distributor share from US and Canada. It means Saaho should gross nothing less than $5 Million in North America to meet the expectations of its buyers. $2 Million premiere day seemed cakewalk until few days ago. Who would’ve thought the high pricing gamble would keep the ticket paying public at bay.
