‘Uyyala Jampala’ and ‘Majnu’ fame Virinchi Varma is coming up with a film titled ‘Jitendar Reddy’. The teaser got a good response and the director spoke about what made him take up this project. He said, “It is not an easy task to tell a story about a person who was born in Jagityala and won the appreciation of the bigwigs in Delhi. Even I did not know how special that person is and the qualities in him. But Gnana Sekhar sir called me and asked me to direct this story.”
He added, “I went to listen to the story but he did not narrate me the story but gave a book instead. I started reading it without any expectations but I had a lot questions within myself after reading this book. I wondered that could a person do anything for a country and culture. I asked if he could go to any length for what he believes in and for his people.
I didn’t want to listen to the story and directly went to meet Jitendar Reddy’s friends and brother Ravindra Reddy. They said many things about him. Though I made only love stories, I wanted to narrate such stories and made everything in a very realistic and authentic manner. The response for the teaser is something I did not expect.”
He revealed, “Some people are asking if it is a political film. As a matter of fact, we would have released it before elections if was a political film but we wanted to tell the story of Jitendar Reddy to the current generation and there is no connection to politics at all. It is about a student leader who became a mass leader who is liked by many.” Producer Muduganti Ravindar Reddy said that Virinchi Varma owned the story while making it and added that Rakesh looked like Jitendar Reddy the entire time shooting was going on.
He thanked the audience got such a good reception to the teaser and thanked DOP Gnanasekhar for working on this project. He concluded by saying that it is important to know the story of Jitendar Reddy just like we are taught about the lives of Bhagat Singh and Alluri Seetharamaraju.
Hero Rakesh Varre said, “People gave me a lot of love which I was doing small characters. I had a fear about how people would receive me when I did ‘Yevvariki Cheppoddu’ as a hero. The success of that film was mainly because of the people and the media. DOP Gnana Sekhar sir suggested my name to the script. I accepted two films already but kept them aside by convincing those directors after listening to Virinchi Varma’s narration.
There is no information about Jitendar Reddy on Wikipedia which made it feel like a fresh content. Everything happened quite quickly and we worked very hard for this movie. We are bringing this film with a lot of genuineness and I hope that it is liked by the audience.” Apart from Rakesh Varre, Riya Suman, Vaishali Raj, Chatrapathi Sekhar, Subbaraju and Ravi Prakash played key roles. Gopi Sundar composer the music for this movie.
