‘Illayaraja don’t make music, he creates it’ -is a popular phrase and many people vouch for it. His songs are unique with new Carnatic ragas, and for his phenomenal understanding of musical instruments. However, the music maestro slammed at the young music composers for using his songs all over again in the latest films.
Earlier, Illayaraja sent a notice to renowned singer and his friend SP Balasubramanyam that Telugu shows and music programmes use his songs without his permission. Illayaraja said that they should take his word before singing his composed songs. Now, the new statement has been released by the maestro claiming that many new movies have also been remixing his old songs without his content.
‘There are some music directors who are using my songs for the latest movies. Such composers have no talent of their own. If they defend to have talent, then why are they using my work? he questioned. He later pointed out how the recent blockbuster ’96’ songs composed by him have been modified numerous times for their own benefits. He called this move as wrong on many levels. ” To show that a couple fell in love, today’s music composers are using my songs with ease and comfort. This is not at all necessary and the reason is, today’s budding and successful composers don’t really have talent”.
He compared the young music directors with veteran composer RD Burman and said that he has never used or even touched anyone’s hard work. He also went on to say that today’s modernized stories need new songs and because of lack of talent and creativity, people are still stuck to my songs.
