This ‘Mockery’ Trend Is Not At All Good

One of the latest Telugu film trailers that shocked audiences big time is none other than “Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu”, which has Ram Gopal Varma making a mockery of many noted, prominent and celebrated politicians.

Without using their original names and coining a different expansion for the acronyms like CBN, PK and others, Varma has attempted to show the likes of Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, Nara Lokesh and others in very bad light. While Varma cooked up a story that after Jagan became Chief Minister, all these twin-like-looking politicians are creating hurdles for him, he could have done the same story with other actors.

Chandrababu Naidu is someone who is not just a Chief Minister of AP (and united AP) but also the architect of IT industry in Hyderabad. Criticizing him in politics is okay, but making a mockery of him through this spoof-like film is something not worthy. And films like these come out, surely tomorrow we will have other filmmakers making a mockery of YS Jagan, KCR and other politicians after they are out of power.

If Varma wants to educate society, he could make movies like Sekhar Kammula’s Leader or Koratala’s Bharat Anu Nenu that debates current system of politics and situation of the society, without making a mockery of those living. When hailed as a legend for delivering a film like Siva, setting a bad precedent contradicts Varma’s Legendary!
