1) 118: Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s latest thriller was released in theaters while the movie business is at an all-time low. Despite the off season and low pre release buzz, 118 has done pretty decent in its first weekend.
The film has collected around Rs. 4.5 crore in its first weekend from Telugu states and is likely to breakeven by Monday, which is a holiday.
Kalyan Ram has changed tracks and came up with a taut thriller when his chips were down and it has paid off.
2) Viswasam: Ajith’s Viswasam was a big hit in Tamil, but the Telugu version hasn’t grabbed the attention of movie lovers.
It had a pretty ordinary first weekend and will not be able to recover its costs in spite of being sold for very low prices compared to the star’s previous films.
3) Luka Chuppi: Bollywood has been witnessing many hits while the Telugu cinema business is struggling. Luka Chuppi joins the winners list with a solid first weekend at the box office.
The film has been receiving mixed reviews from critics, but the fun quotient and an attractive star cast are working in its favor.
4) Total Dhamaal: Total Dhamaal has entered the Century club and is looking solid enough to add a few more crores to its overall tally.
The film has been solid in Nizam in its second weekend.
5) Anjali CBI: Nayanthara’s action thriller is carrying decent reports but the collections have remained on the lower side.
