The ruling TRS celebrated the announcement of the party’s candidate for Huzurabad with a massive motorcycle rally on Wednesday. Ministers Harish Rao, Koppula Eswar , Gangula Kamalakar and several other key leaders had participated in the two-wheeler rally, which wound through the lanes and bylanes of Huzurabad town.
The rally, which had a large number of youths, party leaders and cadres, began by paying tributes to the Telangana martyrs. The rally was in fact being seen as a heralding of political fight in the constituency. On Wednesday, the TRS announced TRS Vidyarthi (TRSV) leader Gellu Srinivas as its candidate. Gellu is from the BC community. He will take on Eatala Rajendra, who too is a BC. Thus it would be a massive showdown and a fight between the BC communities.
The ruling TRS is pulling all stops to win Huzurabad as a BJP victory here could mean the regrouping of anti-TRS forces. The TRS wants to ensure that the TRS wins this bypoll. Unofficial estimates put the total expenditure for the bypoll in the assembly constituency could be more than Rs 400 crore. Sources say that all the political parties are preparing to send huge amounts for this constituency.
