Dharmapuri Srinivas is a veteran politician from Telangana. After traveling with the Congress party for around three decades, he had joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and is currently serving as the Rajya Sabha member from the state. He hails from a dominant caste in the state.
He has been in the headlines with the reports of him ditching the TRS and joining Congress back. The reports gained momentum when he met Sonia Gandhi in the national capital Delhi. Since then, it was speculated that he will make a return to Congress this month.
However, DS’s return to the Congress party saw a delay due to unknown reasons and the delay is attributed to various reasons. While a few believe that D Srinivas is the reason behind it, it is also said that other factors have resulted in the delay in the matter.
As D. Srinivas is reportedly facing anti-sentiment in the TRS party, the other leaders in the party are said to be not happy with Srinivas reportedly planning to join the Congress party again are gearing up to file a complaint against the Rajya Sabha member.
Media reports are abuzz that the TRS leaders think that Dharmapuri Srinivas should be disqualified after he shifts his loyalty to the Congress party. Having decided the same reportedly, the TRS leaders kept themselves busy in the preparations in this regard.
The reason behind Dharmapuri Srinivas wanting to leave the TRS and join the Congress is that he is believed to have issues with the Chief Ministers and going by the same issues, he took the tough call to leave the party, despite serving as the Rajya Sabha member.
Dharmapuri Srinivas joining the grand old party is more like a homecoming for him. His political journey started with the Congress party. During his stint with the Congress party, he held the crucial portfolios of Higher Education and Intermediate Education.
He even served as the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President, before the state was bifurcated. After Telangana was carved out of combined Andhra Pradesh, Dharmapuri Srinivas had resigned from the Congress party in 2015 and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) party.
