Many Indian states have imposed night curfews and weekend lockdowns, to control the spread of Coronavirus in those respective states. The state of Tamil Nadu has been the latest to do that, with the implementation of both night curfews and weekend lockdowns.
On the other hand, there seems to be no restriction of movement in Telangana, with everything open, and with the virus continuing to spread rapidly in the state. The second wave of Coronavirus has turned out to be more devastating than the first, but not many precautions are being taken by the Telangana government to control the spread of the virus. The High Court of Telangana called out the government on the same today. The HC ordered the government to either put into effect night curfews or weekend lockdowns and to take this decision within the next 48 hours.
The HC also said that if the government fails to arrive at a decision within the next 48 hours, that it would take matters into its own hands and pass judgment. When the AG told the HC that the government was keeping tabs on what was going on in the state, the HC said that keeping tabs was alone not enough and that taking action matters most.
The HC asked the government to submit a full report on the actions that it is taking in controlling the spread of the virus, and in helping those suffering from it, by the 22nd. The rest of the session has been postponed to the 23rd.
