An interesting battle is on cards in the Telangana legislative council. Old rivals from Jadityal will have another face-off on the floor of the house. L Ramana, till now Telangana TDP chief, is now a TRS MLC, while T Jeevan Reddy is also an MLC. Both have been traditional rivals and have fought many a battle in Jagityal. Both were MLAs and former ministers.
In fact , Jagityal has been a Congress citadel till the TDP was formed. In fact, Jeevan Reddy had won for a record six times from Jagityal. After the TDP’ formation, Reddy faced some real challenge from Ramana. In a political rivalry that spanned two decades, Jeevan Reddy and Ramana won two times each. Now both have been defeated in the assembly elections and have entered the legislative council.
While Jeevan Reddy steadfastly remained in the Congress , L Ramana resigned from the TDP and joined the TRS. Now they are again face-to-face in the Telangana legislative council. It is likely that there would be fireworks. With both the leaders eyeing the 2023 assembly elections and both planning to fight from the same constituency, the competition is inevitable.
Both Jeevan Reddy and L Ramana have graduated from the rough and tumble of Jagityal politics. The 2023 elections are likely to see a major battle between these two leaders. It remains to be seen who among the two will win. As for Jeevan Reddy, the 2023 elections may well be his last direct elections due to his age.
