Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader and serving Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath administered the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Monday at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital.
After taking the vaccine dose, the Chief Minister urged the beneficiaries to come forward to take the vaccine dose to tackle the pandemic. Yogi assured that the vaccines are safe.
The Chief Minister received the vaccine dose when the state has been reporting a surge in fresh infections of the ongoing deadly virus. In the last 24 hours, the state added 4,136 new infections, taking the total infections to 6,30,059.
Yogi Adityanath was administered the COVAXIN vaccine dose developed by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech. After receiving the vaccine dose, he waited at the facility for not less than 30 minutes, reports claimed.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping the vaccine doses available for the people. Blaming the negligence of people for the rise in infections, the Chief Minister urged everyone to follow Covid-19 behavior to be safer.
Rubbishing the rumours of failure in tackling the respiratory disease, Yogi Adityanath said that, the state has performed well in dealing with the respiratory disease despite the high population, he said.
