Uppena, starring newcomers Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles is already the highest grossing Telugu film featuring a debut hero in the lead role. It has grossed a whopping Rs 70 crores till now.
The latest reports suggest that Uppena is on course to shatter a 21-year-old national record.
Hrithik Roshan’s debut film ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’ which released back in 2000 holds the record for being the highest grossing film with a debutante as lead actor. It collected a total of Rs 80 crores.
Now, Uppena is really close to breaking this record and it is only a matter of time before it does so.
Being a regional film, Uppena has done exceptionally well at the box office and it is set to establish a new national record now.
Speaking at an event ahead of Uppena’s release, Sukumar said the Buchi Babu Sana directorial will collect Rs 100 crores and his prediction is not far off.
