Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya resigns

Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya has resigned from her post on Wednesday. She resigned with two years left in her term.

As per reports, the resignation letter of Baby Rani Maurya was sent to President Ram Nath Kovind. The resignation was confirmed by Secretary to the Governor, Brijesh Kumar Sant. However, she reportedly resigned for personal reasons.

Maurya was sworn in as the governor of Uttarakhand on August 26, 2018, taking over from Krishna Kant Paul at the end of his five-year tenure. She had completed three years in office as the governor last month.

Baby Rani Maurya has held many positions in the past. She served as mayor of Agra. She has served as a member of the State Social Welfare Board and a member of the National Commission for Women. Received Samaj Ratna, Uttar Pradesh Ratna and Nari Ratna awards. Her resignation is subject to presidential approval.
