Varun Tej’s Valmiki is one of the hottest movies that will be hitting screens on September 20. The Mega hero’s menacing makeover for his flamboyant role with negative shades has struck a chord with fans and raised expectations on the film.
Valmiki’s pre-release business has been in full swing over the past few weeks. While the film’s makers at 14 Reels Plus are inking some cool deals from most areas in both the Telugu speaking states, the US rights have been finally closed.
The last buzz in the T-town is that popular US distribution house US Telugu has acquired Valmiki’s US theatrical rights. Film Nagar grapevine is that US Telugu has shelled out a cool Rs 2.50 crores (Rs 50 lakhs refundable) to bag the rights amid a huge competition. There is also another buzz that US Telugu has acquired the rights for only Rs 1.50 crores (Rs 25 lakhs refundable).
US Telugu is currently on a high with its latest venture ‘Evaru’ doing well. Even Keerthy Suresh’s upcoming film ‘Miss India’ has been acquired by US Telugu.
Valmiki is an official remake of the hit Tamil gangster thriller ‘Jigarthanda’. Varun plays Bobby Simha’s role in the Telugu version. Pooja Hegde reprises Lakshmi Menon’s role, while Tamil hero Atharvaa Murali will be seen in the role which was originally enacted by Siddharth in this Harish Shankar directorial.
