Varun Tej Continues To Take Risks

Varun Tej started off his career with experimental films like Mukunda and Kanche. Mukunda was a political drama in which the lead pair doesn’t communicate verbally. The experiment backfired and Mukunda flopped miserably in spite of a hit soundtrack. Kanche didn’t fetch him a hit, but won accolades from a section of audience.

Later Varun Tej tried his hand at masala entertainers like Loafer and Mister that tanked at box office. He finally scored a big hit with Fidaa, a romantic drama narrated in heroine’s point of view.Later Varun scored another hit with a romantic entertainer Tholiprema. Any actor would go for another love story to keep the momentum going, but Varun is coming up with an experiment soon.

His next film directed by Ghazi fame Sankalp Reddy is a thriller set in space backdrop. The director’s first film focused on submarine war and now he has chosen another interesting setup for his next. The film will not have songs and Varun is okay with it. He believed in director’s vision and agreed upon not having any songs which may spoil the mood.

It is a big risk for any upcoming star as songs are a must in mainstream Telugu cinema. If Sankalp can narrate his story as grippingly as Ghazi then lack of songs should be a hindrance.
