Vijay Mallya, The India’s most-wanted economic offender who absconded to UK after defaulting Indian banks to Rs 9000 Crore, isn’t far away to land back at home, as the UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid has approved to extradite him to India. He’s given 14 days to file an appeal to a higher court.
As per legal experts, it may take a maximum of 7-8 months for Indian government to get Mallya back to India if he makes use of all legal options in UK. Vijay Mallya is unarguably one of the most talked about person in Indian media circles for his shameful act of running away from India.
After he was pronounced to be extradited to India, Vijay Mallya took to Twitter saying: “After the decision was handed down on December 10,2018 by the Westminster Magistrates Court, I stated my intention to appeal. I could not initiate the appeal process before a decision by the Home Secretary. Now I will initiate the appeal process.”
