Glamorous actress of yesteryears and senior Congress leader Vijayashanti has dropped enough hints that he might not continue in the party for a long time.
The former MP, who has also been the party’s campaign committee chairperson, was reacting to the reports that she might defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party sooner or later.
“This campaign is being spread by some vested interests in the Congress party leaders themselves. They do not want me to continue in the party and are trying to fog me out of the Congress. Unfortunately, the state party leadership is also silent on these malicious campaign,” Vijayashanti said, in a statement.
Stating that she had no immediate plans to quit the Congress, the senior actress, however, did not rule out the possibility.
“I will take a call at an appropriate time. And if I defect to any other party, I will let the media know well in advance,” she said.
Vijayashanti alleged that some Congress leaders were conspiring against her.
“What is unfortunate is that the source of this campaign is Gandhi Bhavan. I have not been invited to any of the party meetings and nobody is consulting me or talking to me over phone on the party activities,” she said.
She said she had disclosed everything to PCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and told him that she would not take any decision in haste.
“I will work out my future plans soon,” she said.
