Hopes of Virat Kohli fans who wanted to see the Run Machine lifting the Indian Premier League(IPL) as the skipper vanished as the play bold army Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) suffered a loss in the do or die eliminator match. As Virat will not lead RCB from the next season, he might not win the trophy as the skipper.
RCB locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the eliminator match and decided to bat first after winning the toss. Virat men got a good start. However, Kolkata had managed to take the early lead by claiming early wickets of RCB batsmen in the crucial match.
All-rounder Sunil Narine made wonders with the ball for his team by claiming the wickets of skipper Virat Kohli, Mr. 360 AB de Villiers, Maxwell, and KS Bharat. With major batsmen failing to make runs, RCB could see just 138 runs against its name on the scoreboard making it an easy target for the Kolkata team.
Thanks to RCB’s wicket-taker Harshal Patel, RCB made the Kolkata Knight Riders fight hard to win the match. After his heroics with the ball, Sunil Narine played a quick cameo with 26 runs that came off in just 15 balls. Despite losing his wicket, Sunil made sure that his team would have the advantage.
Virat Kohli is one of the greatest batsmen in the current era and there is no doubt about that. However, his track record in the Indian Premier League(IPL) is not that good. He has been leading the team since 2013, but could not win the trophy for his team.
Starting his career in the IPL tournament with RCB, Virat Kohli was chosen as the skipper and since the 2013 season, he has been leading the team. Needless to say, Virat Kohli is one of the major reasons behind the loyal fan base of RCB.
Virat Kohli has been under constant fire due to his poor record in IPL. He had recently announced that he will step down as the captain for Team India in the T 20 format. T20 World Cup 2021 will be his last season as skipper for T 20 format.
